Like other Need for Speed games, Hot Pursuit features tons of exciting racing action. You have the option of playing as a cop and driving a police car to chase down criminals or playing as a street racer who needs to evade the cops. No matter which one you play as you'll find some challenges on both sides. The police officers have strong cars that can run over almost anything as they chase after racers, but their cars are so slow that you need to be smart about how you play. When you play as a street racer, you get a souped-up car that can run circles under a police unit, but the car isn't as strong and can easily run into obstacles.

When you start a new game, you have the chance to explore parts of Southern California also with Colorado and Arizona. In career mode, you either play as a career cop who wants to clean up the streets or a racer who wants to make a lot of money. This open-world game helps you visit all three states and check out more than 100 miles of streets and areas designed for racers. Though you can play on your own, there is also a multiplayer option that lets you share the excitement with your friends.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered features the same mini-games that players love about the other titles in the franchise. You'll find multiple events, some that take only five minutes to complete and others that take twice as long or longer. When playing as a racer, you may need to evade the cops for 10 minutes with several units on your trail. The mini-games for cops include capturing a certain number of racers within 10 minutes and pulling over a racer deeper into the game within five minutes.

You might find a few issues with this game. While it initially had an online option that let users play and chat with others, the developers removed this feature. It also requires a lot of memory space and can run so slowly at times that you have problems completing levels and mini-games.
